The First True Global Circuit Breaker Family

Eaton Series G Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) provide unmatched performance in a dramatically more compact package than standard circuit breakers or comparable fusible devices. Eaton MCCBs can be configured in cascade rated systems, allowing the use of lower interruption circuit breakers downstream, which leads to lower system cost. While meeting IEC 60947-2 service and interrupting ratings, these breakers provide unmatched flexibility by employing a wide variety of trip units including fixed thermal-magnetic, adjustable-thermal adjustablemagnetic, and electronic options.
 Series G E-frame MCCBs 16A to 160A
 Series G J-frame MCCBs 50A to 250A
 Series G L-frame MCCBs 250A to 630A
 Series G N-frame MCCBs 800A to 1600A

Eaton MCCBs are available in five frame sizes in ratings from 16 to 2500 amperes and in interrupting capacities up to 100 kA at 415V AC. Standard calibration is at 40°C with optional 50°C factory calibration available for applications where higher ambient temperatures are encountered. Eaton MCCBs use patented contact conductor designs featuring high-speed “blow-open” action that results in superior performance when high level fault currents produce extraordinary electromechanical forces.

Current Limiting Characteristics
In accordance with BSEN60947-2 / IEC 60947-2, Eaton MCCBs current limiting design is achieved with a high repulsion contact configuration and advanced arc extinguishing technology.

Operating Mechanisms
In standard configuration, Eaton use a toggle handle operating mechanism which also serves as a switching position indicator. The toggle handle indicates ON, OFF and TRIPPED positions.

World Class Breakers
Advanced design, superior manufacturing and unmatched ruggedness combine to set the standard in world-class moulded case circuit breakers.

Assured Reliability Through In-plant Testing
The quality, dependability, and reliability of every Eaton MCCB is assured by a thorough program of in-plant testing. A minimum of two calibration tests are conducted on every pole of every circuit breaker to verify the trip mechanism, operating mechanism, continuity, and accuracy.

High Service Levels
The Eaton business has strategically located manufacturing plants world-wide that assemble moulded case circuit breakers. These plants employ a flexible manufacturing strategy that allows for rapid and efficient order fulfillment.

Global Certification
Eaton MCCBs are also available listed in accordance with UL 489 and CSA C22.2 No. 5.1. These are independent third party testing houses who assure compliance with North American standards.

Trip Units
The Eaton family of electronic Digitrip trip units offers unparalleled protection and monitoring features. Digitrip RMS units provide long delay, short delay, instantaneous, and ground fault protection. Curve shaping, zone selective interlocking, system diagnostics, and system monitoring and communications are all features available by selecting the appropriate Digitrip RMS for the specific requirement.

Eaton also offers electromechanical trip units that provide short circuit protection and overload protection. Conventional moulded case circuit breakers are available with either a fixed or adjustable electromechanical trip unit, depending on frame size.

Temperature and Calibration
The operating ambient temperature range for most Eaton electromechanical or electronic trip units is between -20°C to +70°C. Should the internal temperature rise to an unsafe level, temperature protective circuits in the electronic designs initiate a tripping operation and provide self-protection. Standard calibration is 40°C. For applications in high ambient temperature conditions, 50°C factory calibration is available.

Accessories
The Eaton MCCB range offers a wide choice of internal and external accessories that complement moulded case circuit breakers. Plug-in internal accessories are common for GE – GL – Frames — 16 - 630 amperes and are suitable for field installation. The available plug-in accessories include:

  • Alarm switch
  • Auxiliary switch
  • Shunt trip
  • Low energy shunt trip
  • Undervoltage release mechanism.

Also offered is an extensive line of handle operating accessories. These accessories provide indirect electrical or manual circuit breaker handle operations. They include:

  • Electrical (solenoid) operator
  • Motor driven electrical operator
  • Rotary handle
  • Vari-depth handle mechanism
  • Flex shaft handle mechanism.

Two basic types of termination accessories are provided;
terminal connection devices and termination protection devices:

  • Line and load terminals
  • End cap keeper nut
  • Rear connected studs
  • Terminal end covers
  • Terminal shields
