Eaton MEM switchgear helps feed rural Africans
Eaton MEM has donated switchgear for small flour mills in two remote mission stations in north west Zambia. The mills are used to grind maize grown by local Africans so that they can feed their families. At Nyangombe, 500 miles north west of Lusaka, Exel switch- disconnector-fuses and ADS7 star-delta starters control power to 12.5kW and 30kW motors which drive two mills, capable of grinding up to 2 tonnes of maize per hour.

MCBs and RCBOs with a 15kA short-circuit breaking capacity
Miniature circuit-breakers are now available with a short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu) of 15kA from Eaton MEM. A tight contract programme and restricted space for installation of the main switchboard were two of the challenges facing Waring & Marriott, the electrical contractors for a new Nottinghamshire printing works. Surge Protection
for popular distribution board range

Transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS) devices are now available as ready-to-install contractor kits for installation on the popular Memshield 2 MCB distribution boards from Eaton MEM Circuit Protection and Control. They offer a straightforward and cost-effective way to protect final electrical circuits in commercial and industrial premises against high voltage spikes and surges which might damage computers and other sensitive equipment.

Two kits are available, one for Type A (single-phase) Memshield 2 MCB boards and the other for Type B (three-phase) boards. Both TVSS devices offer an 8OkA per phase peak surge current capability, both incorporate MEM's multi-stage Active Response Network technology and both carry a 10-year warranty.

In a multi-million pound contract, Eaton MEM Circuit Protection and Control is
supplying its largest-ever switchgear order to electrical contractor, Phoenix
Electrical Company Ltd, for the new 42-storey Cesar Pelli tower at 25
Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London.

The project, which includes nine 11kV/415V packaged substations (mainly 3.5MVA) and 28 switchboards (up to 4000A), demonstrates the ability of Eaton MEM Circuit Protection and Control to provide a comprehensive package of medium and low voltage switchgear.
