This is possible because Protector units employ a special heat absorbing electrochemical potting compound. Components in normal TVSS units are progressively degraded by the heat generated by transient surges, but in Protector units, the heat is rapidly conducted away and absorbed by the potting compound.

The new range is available in two forms: as a stand-alone unit for installation by contractors or panel builders, or the MEM System Shield. This offers an integrated facility-wide suppression plan based on Protector units which can include other forms of power quality management such as power factor control, if required.
