Lloyds Approval
Lloyds Approval
for MEM Miniature Circuit Breakers

MEM has received Lloyds Register of Shipping Type Approval for its Memshield 2 range of miniature circuit breakers.

Approval means that the MCBs can be used in marine, offshore and industrial environments which are subject to Lloyds Approval. Typical applications will include electrical distribution systems and control systems on ships and offshore installations.

The MCBs are approved to IEC 60947-2: 1995 (BS EN 60947-2) and approval applies to use in environment categories ENV1, ENV2 and ENV3 as defined by Lloyds. Approval covers the entire range of single pole (SP), single pole and neutral (SPSN), double pole (DP), triple pole (TP) and triple pole and neutral (TPSN) miniature circuit breakers.

Memshield 2 MCBs are high performance current limiting devices with a 10kA short circuit breaking capacity. They are available in 14 current ratings from 1A to 63A in types B, C and D.

"Lloyds Register of Shipping Approval complements other national and maritime approvals already obtained for the range" says David Pitt, Product Manager - Circuit Breakers with MEM. "The range already has German Lloyds (GL) approval and a number of international approvals including CEBEC (Belgium), VDE (Germany), KEMA (Netherlands) and SEV (Switzerland)."
