Fast delivery and easy installation with Eaton’s new MCCB
A new moulded-case circuit-breaker range, announced by Eaton, offers installers an extremely adaptable MCCB, independently certified by KEMA to the international switchgear standard IEC60947-2. Series G MCCBs are typically 30% smaller than existing units and the range covers applications from 16A to 2,500A in just five frame sizes.

Eaton has invested £1 million in a new Component Assembly Centre in Reddings Lane Birmingham to offer “Late Point Definition” of Series G MCCBs and other devices. Stocks of the basic MCCB are held, together with a full inventory of accessories, so that devices can be configured quickly for rapid turn-round. The distinction between “standard” and “special” devices disappears as all units are assembled, tested and despatched within hours of an order being received.

Series G MCCBs are designed for easy installation and reconfiguration. A choice of box clamp or bolted terminations up to 630A, offers a wide range of termination options for cables, cable lugs or busbar connection.

Accessories are a plug-in design that can be field-fitted easily and safely from the front. These accessories are common across the three smaller Frame Sizes, from 16A to 630A, covering the majority of needs. They include alarm switch, auxiliary switch, shunt trip, low-energy shunt trip and undervoltage release units. All are certified for on-site installation.

Series G is the first MCCB range to boast the internationally respected KEMA-KEUR mark. This certifies that the product has been independently tested for compliance with IEC 60947-2 and that production will be subject to ongoing surveillance.

Series G MCCBs employ a patented contact mechanism with high-speed “opening force action” ensuring minimum energy let-through under high fault current conditions. Interrupting capacities up to 100kA are available on units as low as 250A. Units are calibrated for a 40°C ambient but 50°C can be supplied.

The smallest frame size, Frame GE, offers ratings of 125A and 160A, covering the current range 16-160A with fixed or adjustable thermal trip and fixed magnetic trip units. The second frame size, Frame GJ, is a versatile 250A unit available with adjustable thermal-magnetic trip or electronic trip. The electronic trip enables the breaker to be used effectively down to 20A. The third frame size, Frame GL, comprises 400A and 630A units, also with adjustable thermal-magnetic or electronic trip options. Larger Frame GN and GR units are designed for special applications and come in 800-2500A ratings.

“We are confident that Series G will offer contractors and panel builders an unparalleled range of moulded-case circuit-breakers, backed by the assurance of the KEMA-KEUR mark and available on a just-in-time basis from the new Component Assembly Centre in Reddings Lane” says David Pitt, Eaton’s Product Manager – Circuit Protection.

Eaton has already launched a new range of its MEM panelboards designed around the Series G circuit-breakers.
