Memcap 3000 Low Voltage Deluxe Cubicles

The Memcap 3000 cubicle is designed for the automatic power factor correction of industrial loads.
It can be supplied with a reactive sensing relay or arranged to operate from existing control devices. The equipment is arranged to switch capacitors as the load requirement varies, thus ensuring that the system power factor is maintained at an economic level.

The cubicle is designed to be compatible with switchboards, its construction, therefore, is to the same exacting standards required by a switchboard manufacturer.

A full height hinged door is fitted as standard which permits easy inspection and maintenance. The equipment is designed for full front access both for installation and maintenance. It can, therefore, be fitted where space is at a premium.

The modular body construction is fitted with throughgoing busbars as standard, enabling the equipment to be easily extended at a later date if required.

An incoming cable terminal chamber is fitted as standard but if required either an incoming fuse-switch-diconnector or load-break switch can be provided. The incoming section is designed to accommodate the large supply cables associated with the capacitor element.

The cubicle incorporates capacitor units with the following features:

  • Dry long life low dielectric loss
  • Zinc metallised polypropylene windings encapsulated in epoxy resin and mounted within a sheet steel case
  • Fitted with an internal fuse
  • Self healing - internal faults vaporise the metallisation
  • Low losses - less than 0.5 Watts/kvar
  • Environmentally friendly, non-toxic and non-flammable
  • Complete with discharge resistors
  • Manufactured to IEC 831 - 1 & 2

Cubicle Construction
Each Memcap 3000 cubicle can house up to 300 kvar of capacitors switched in stages of 25 to 100 kvar dependent upon requirements.

The control equipment comprises:

  • Set of DIN removable fuses and carriers per 1 or 2 switching stages (all insulated BS 88 fuses and carriers can be fitted at extra cost)
  • Suitably rated contactor per switching stage
  • Hand/Off/Auto selector switch per switching stage when required
  • 'Capacitor Energised' indication lamp per switching stage when required
  • Set of control fuses

The cubicle has throughgoing busbars and all internal wiring and interconnections. Control wiring is clearly labelled.

All switching stages are clearly numbered and the panel is complete with all necessary information labels.

Terminal Chamber
A terminal chamber is fitted as standard complete with suitably rated incoming connection points.

Alternatively, an incoming fuse-switch-disconnector, complete with BS 88 fuses, or incoming load-break switch can be fitted to the incoming section.

The incoming section can be fitted to either the left, or right hand side of the capacitor bank (when viewed from the front) and can accept top or bottom cable entry. (Entry to be specified at time of order).

A detachable undrilled gland plate is fitted as standard.

Cable entry will be left hand, bottom entry, unless otherwise specified.
